Find the one thing that makes everything else easier
You've got a dozen things pulling at you but not every activity is created equal, and some things, when you focus on them, act like dominoes, creating...
"What's the one thing you could do such that, by doing it, everything else becomes easier or unnecessary? "
- Gary Keller, The One Thing
The Idea
When one domino falls, it can knock over another 50% larger.
Line them up right, and a single push topples the whole row.
Most overwhelming lists aren't really twelve separate problems. They're two or three root problems, wearing a dozen different disguises — and the domino is almost never the loudest item on your list. It's the quiet root sitting underneath the pattern.
This idea has roots in a book called The ONE Thing, by Gary Keller — asking what one thing, if you did it, would make everything else easier or unnecessary. I've brought that same idea into this exercise, rooted in something we already know from our deen: small, consistent steps carry more weight than we think.
"A simple action had a profound effect. I made a hook for my keys after the first lesson - and I haven't struggled to find them since."
